# Items Upgrading
Item upgrading is a simple yet effective way to enhance your gear in Darkrest.Online. By upgrading items, you can increase their attack, defense or armor.

Upgrading Window
Your item level will be downgraded by 1 if the upgrade fails; you will also lose the upgrade cost and ingredients needed. If your item level is equal to 0, and you fail, you will only lose the upgrade cost along with the ingredients.
