You can find cooking stations in all major cities. Simply use them to see all the great recipes available for you. Some of them boost your character for 30 minutes (you can't have 2 bonuses from food active simultaneously).

Some recipes require rare items (such as Hydra Egg) or ingredients that can be only grown and gathered via farming.

You can find Gardener Aleyar near Ab'Dendriel, where you can purchase "plantable ground" and various seeds to grow in your house. To start gardening, place the plantable ground inside your house and use the seeds on it. Depending on the seed type, it will take several hours for the plants to grow. Once they are ready to harvest, use a kitchen knife or a multitool to gather the vegetables. You might fail.
